our history

The EGIP Foundation, Inc. was founded in 2010 as a visionary initiative rooted in Mindanao, Philippines. It was established by Dr. Hubertus van Dierendonck, a dedicated humanitarian and the former Chief Executive Officer of Euro Generics International Philippines Inc., whose commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment laid the foundation for the organization’s mission.

Formally registered as a non-government organization (NGO) with the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 21, 2010, EGIP Foundation continues to uphold its founding values through impactful programs and partnerships that serve communities across the region.

Today, the Foundation is led by Mr. Alec F. van Dierendonck, who serves as Chairman and President, continuing the legacy of leadership and compassion that has guided the organization since its inception.

Vision

EGIPF envisions to serve nature and people with excellence in environmental protection and conservation of biodiversity in an environmentally friendly manner while sustainably improving the livelihood of resilient communities. It is also an integrated effort that includes food security, community development, health and education, all crucial components to conserve and protect Nature.

Mission

EGIPF commits to support the conservation of the environment and all life forms within that have emerged over millions of years of evolution. EGIPF believes that alleviating poverty of indigenous people living in or near natural habitats is crucial as such conditions could potentially lead to increased deterioration of the environment.
Our Purpose and Partnerships

The primary objective of EGIP Foundation, Inc. is to support indigenous communities in the uplands of Davao City in the protection, rehabilitation, and reforestation of their ancestral forests—ensuring that these vital ecosystems are preserved for future generations. In parallel, the Foundation also seeks to enhance the well-being of these communities by fostering sustainable livelihoods through agroforestry development in areas deemed suitable for long-term cultivation and stewardship.

EGIPF is officially accredited by the Davao City Development Council, in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Code and as outlined in DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2019-72 dated May 22, 2019, and Davao City Ordinance No. 0113-03. Furthermore, the Foundation is an active member of the Sustainable Davao Movement—a broad, multi-sectoral network of environmental organizations united by a shared commitment to promoting sustainable living in Davao City.
