Forest protection & reforestation are closely linked to community development. Much of the pressure on a forest and its biodiversity, comes from local communities that make a living from forest products and most of them are indigenous people. Usually, forests are located in their ancestral domains. Support for community development is the project’s direct response to the linked problems of rural poverty and forest degradation. It is also another way of helping Tribal communities in securing their daily needs so that they can protect their ancestral forest as it provides them with a sustainable livelihood or a source of income.
